Who We Are

The Neurocomputation and Neuroimaging research group, headed by Prof. Dr. Felix Blankenburg at Freie Universität Berlin, is seeking to appoint a Predoctoral Research Associate (f/m/d)(50% part-time) at the earliest possible date.

Our research focuses on cognitive processes underlying perception and action using state-of-the-art methods in cognitive neuroscience. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with an interest in experimental cognitive neuroscience and experience in programming and data analysis. The position offers an excellent opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in a stimulating and collaborative research environment.

What You Can Expect in Your New Role

  • Contribute to research projects in cognitive neuroscience
  • Develop and implement experimental paradigms
  • Assist in the development of mathematical models for the processing and prediction of somatosensory stimuli
  • Conduct neurocognitive experiments using neuroimaging (e.g., fMRI and EEG) and/or brain stimulation methods (e.g. TMS and tDCS) 
  • Recruit and supervise research participants
  • Preprocess, analyze, and statistically evaluate experimental data
  • Contribute to scientific publications and conference presentations
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in psychology and cognitive neuroscience in accordance with the LVVO
     
  • the position serves the purpose of the individual's own academic qualification (doctoral studies)
     

Key Requirements

  • A completed university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychology, or a related discipline

Desirable

  • Strong interest in pursuing a PhD in cognitive neuroscience
  • Good programming skills (e.g., MATLAB and/or Python)
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis
  • Initial experience with neurocognitive methods (e.g., EEG, MRI/fMRI, Brain Stimulation or Virtual Reality) is an advantage
  • Interest in mathematical modeling of cognitive processes
  • English (C1)
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • High motivation for experimental research and scientific work
